My Content is so Good!

Posted on 11. Jan, 2010 by Isaac Yassar in Uncategorized

thiefWell, that’s actually not my claim.

But someone out there certainly thinks like that. How do I know? Because he thinks that my content so good that he has to steal it for his adsense-full blogspot-blog.

Thanks to copyscape.com, I can know when this dude thinks stealing my content is a good idea. Check it out:

My particular content: http://www.goblogger.net/2009/12/how-to-make-money-from-blogging/

Is plagiarized on: http://zmzmcar.blogspot.com/2009/12/how-to-make-money-from-blogging.html

It’s been almost two weeks since I reported it to Blogger.com and Adsense, but I don’t see if they have done something about it yet.

However, Google acted pretty fast. The plagiarizing content is now nowhere to be found on its index. Even when I tried to search for its URL, Google said it’s nowhere to be found. Thanks Google, good job. Keep it up.

For the plagiarizing dude, thanks for thinking that my content is so good that you are willing to steal it. Karma (and my hacker buddies) is coming your way, I’ve warned you on my email ;-)

For other bloggers, watch out, this dude from http://zmzmcar.blogspot.com might have stolen your content as well. Use copyscape.com regularly to learn if your content is being plagiarized.

Please Help

I’ve tracked the plagiarist’s FeedBurner email address ( zmzm9292@gmail.com ) and found his Twitter account. Please help me reminding this person not to plagiarize any content again. Send him a message like “Please stop stealing articles from other people!” to his Twitter: http://twitter.com/uouo2009 .

You can mention him on your tweet like using “@uouo2009″. You can also copy and paste this for a quick tweet:

@uouo2009 Please stop stealing articles from other people!

Update January 22, 2010: I just received an email from Blogger.com stating that they have removed the plagiarizing content. Finally! Thanks Blogger.com :-)

Hello,

We have received your DMCA take-down notice on http://zmzmcar.blogspot.com/2009/12/how-to-make-money-from-blogging.html dated 01/01/10 and have reviewed the allegedly infringing content in question. In accordance with our policies, we have taken the content offline and notified the blogger of the complaint. Should the content reappear at this post with the infringing content included, please let us know and we will take further action.

It’s very easy to use buddy. Just put your web address there and hit the “Go” button to search for plagiarism.

I have read several articles (written by self proclaimed experts) where it is claimed that duplicate content is spotted by the search engines and discarded automatically. Obviously this is not so in this case. What can we do to stop content being stolen like this?

That is really handy. I don’t mind when they use one or two sentences of my posts and then link to the rest of my article (cause it gives me some link love. But when they steal the whole article – that just isn’t right!

Many bloggers are facing this issue these days. Can you please write a detailed description of how you contacted Google about this Duplicate content?

I did not contact Google, but only Blogger.com and Adsense. I guess someone else has contacted Google informing that the blog is full of plagiarizing content, therefore Google ban it from its index.

Great job, Isaac. I do hardly condemn someone who easily make plagiarizing without some credit to the article’s owner. I hate it because it do affect my SERP.

I suggest trying free services like Tynt.com to track what’s being copied from your blog. One good thing about it is that whenever someone copies some content of your blog and pastes it in his blog editor, a link also gets copied which will give you backlink and will also help in tracking for tynt.

Though I think if he is a real human blogger then he probably will remove that link but I think if it’s being copied by bots then there is no chance it would get removed( the backlink) without a human touch.

Also, Feedburner have also introduced some service which tracks about feed scrappers and notifies in the account.

I am not afraid of this kind of copier. I am more affraid of smart copier which re-phrase our content perfectly (of course automatically by use some software) so either google, copyscape, or us can not recognize it.

There are several pieces of software available that claim to rewrite articles automatically. I tried one of the free ones and found it to be ineffective, but I am sure somebody out there will produce on ethat works ostensibly. What we can say is that the people who use these programmes won’t bother to proof read the rewritten articles and will probably drive away potential customers.

I’m not sure. I just use their copyright infringement form. I dunno much about DMCA because I’m not an American. But I know that someone plagiarize my article.

  11. On an optimistic note. The guy liked your post so much he decided to feature it on his blog minus the credit.

Its not that bad afterall you see. He got more publicity in turn :)

Yeah, he got a negative publicity as plagiarists ;-) If blogger doesn’t respond soon, I’ll pay may best hacker friend good to take all his blog down. He has breached some blogspot blogs before, he can do it again. Someone’s got to teach this Egyptian plagiarist a lesson ;-)

Hmmm…that guy is a lazy blogger. I think blogger should penalize him or at least delete his stolen post because he can always find ways to drive traffic to those pages and generate some clicks.

What I fear is that Blogger is protecting plagiarism. They officially state that they are against copyright infringement, but not directly state that they are against plagiarism. I mean a plagiarism is not always a copyright infringement, like if the author doesn’t complain or issue a legal DMCA.

I have reported this plagiarism 12 days ago and I haven’t got any response. I’m thousands of miles from US and there is no way I can get any attorney to take this guy down the legal way. If Blogger.com acts based only on legal reports, you can say that the plagiarist is safe there.

That is pretty sad. Thats just a copy paste. Even the picture is the same. WFT. I had a couple people copy my stuff. But its just a couple of quoted sentences with a link back to my site to original article. That I do not mind. I see those on my trackback plugins and I can follow the links to through tracking software.

If that happens to me I will be reporting as well. He shouldn’t be making money off other people’s work.

I don’t know how he did it, but the format is exactly the same with my 2009 look. That quotation format is exactly the same with mine, when I used frugalTheme in 2009.

Wow thats stinks man. Some people just don’t take the time to put together their own content. I mean it takes a while to put something original together and for someone to just come along and in about a half a second steal it that just stinks. I am glad you were able to take care of it. I hope noone is stealing mine, but you never know

Interesting, you say that Google acted fast, yet blogger is owned by Google, that’s weird. Good luck to you.

(Although, I get so little traffic, that I don’t mind someone steeling an article or two of mine, if they link back to my original page, but I guess that’s just me. :) ).

I dunno. May be Blogger.com doesn’t care enough about it because they get no money from their service. It’s hard to be professional if you aren’t getting paid, right? ;-)

Blogger doesn’t make money directly from b logs but if thta blog carries adsense adverts they will be making money if the blog attracts plenty of traffic.

I don’t put such banner because most visitors here aren’t trying to plagiarize anything. So the message will be mostly inaccurate.
