Can You Monetize WordPress.com Blogs?

Posted on 25. Jan, 2010 by Isaac Yassar in Uncategorized

Hi folks!

Wondering whether you can monetize your WordPress.com blogs or not? Their Term of  Service clearly doesn’t mention anything about it, does that mean you can put ads there?

Hell no! :D That’s right, WordPress.com is officially against running advertising on your WordPress.com blogs.

Check out their official statement:

Adsense, Yahoo, Chitika, TextLinkAds and other ads are not permitted on WordPress.com blogs*. If you would like to run ads on your blog, please look into running your own copy of WordPress with one of our hosting partners.

In addition to AdSense-type ads, please do not use the following services on your blog: sponsored / paid posts including PayPerPost, ReviewMe, and Smorty; affiliate / referral links to the following domains: usercash, clickbank, clickhop, cashrocks, payingcash; clicktrackers (and any similar) and any promotion of the “I made a million on the internet and so can you” type of advertising (i.e. MLM, network marketing, cash gifting, etc.). Please check our page on types of blogs for more information about what content is and isn’t welcome on WordPress.com.

My friend Isaac, there is one sneaky way to monetize your WordPress.com blog. That is to submit your posts to communities that sponsor revenue sharing like Blog Engage, MMOSocialNetwork, SheToldMe and Xomba. I’m sure they have other sites like this out there. I’m not saying you can make tons of money, but it’s the only way to give yourself the earning potential.
    Thanks.

Wow.. I was not aware about this. WP is really doing a good job in case of privacy and security. At the same time promoting both WP.org and WP.com.. WP rocks..!
