Blogging Concept: Sharing or Teaching?
Posted on 08. Dec, 2009 by Isaac Yassar in Blogging
Hello buddy!
What is your blogging concept, sharing some information or teaching something?
I say there’s a huge difference between the two of them.
I personally prefer sharing as my blogging concept. My blog aims (only) to share some information. Other people might already have some knowledge about my stuff, and I just share my personal opinion and point of view to deliver some additional value on the matter. I don’t have to be better than others to share some opinion, true?
Teaching concept is quite different. To be a good teacher you must be better than the ones you teach, right? A conflict will rise if someone wants to teach something when he doesn’t look too competent for the job. It usually offends the potential ’students’.
Regarding blogging, I guess there are only a few people who can successfully claim themselves as blogging teachers / mentors. Such as those who earn a jaw-dropping amount of dollars per month just from blogging. However, they are usually humble. Their recognitions are mostly from others, not self-claimed.
Well, we need to be careful in choosing our blogging concept if we want to build a better blog. The wrong concept for the wrong time won’t bring the right result, don’t you agree?

My blog is about sharing and teaching what I have found or learned. I share what I have seen or read and teach others what I have done and let them be able to do the same.
I feel there is a fine line between sharing and teaching.

Thanks for sharing your opinion George. I appreciate it. I see that you have blogged since 2007, you must pack some experience by now

I’m prefer sharing rather than teaching. I’m only teaching when people asking me to do so

Sharing is learning and if you are a newbie blogger, sharing is the safest way to get more readers involved and then teaching once you are a big profile blogger that everyone trust you like Darren and John Chow. It is a process indeed

Agreed my friend. I am sure Darren did not teach anything on his fourth month of ProBlogger.net, only shared.

I strive to teach others by sharing; sharing something with my readers and teaching them important lessons is key in my business venture.
For example, you could share with someone how to get Twitter followers, but they will only be able to fully grasp the concept and successfully implement your idea if you showcase them one or two real-life case studies.

Aiming to teach things is quite a bold move. Are you ready to answer the ‘who-are-you-to-teach-me’ ? That’s a tough question to answer
