New Posts: How Often?

Posted on 03. Sep, 2009 by Isaac Yassar in Uncategorized

question-markI am sure you agree that posting frequently is something important in blogging.

Why it’s important? Posting frequently adds more content to your blog on a steady rate and keeping it fresh. It also shows that your blog is alive, not dead yet. Once understanding your posting frequency, your visitors will also know when to visit your blog checking for new posts to read or comment.

So, how often should we publish new posts? I remember some good advices from successful bloggers which I adapt, check them out:

1. Advice from Steve Pavlina

Steve thinks that the best posting frequency is five new posts per week. Well, it’s not just five posts per week actually, but five quality posts per week. That’s what Steve believes, and ‘quality’ for him generally means massive value, super depth, and extra length.

2. Example from Darren Rowse

Another decent example is from Australian six figure blogger Darren Rowse who usually publishes a new post everyday. It means seven posts per week including on weekends. Darren sometimes has some guest posts there among the seven.

The two tips above are good for both new and seasoned bloggers because posting too often (multiple posts per day) may overwhelm loyal readers. Posting rarely is not good as well, visitors can run out of new content to read.

I personally aim to publish a new post everyday (seven per week). But if I am rather busy, then five posts per week is more suitable. But sometimes I still miss them ;-)

How about you my friend, how often do you publish your new posts? Why?

It good if you can make it once per day. If you read many of pro blogger site, they must be highlighted this. But it hard to do plus you have many niche to manage. I stick 2/3 post per week.

i think that, its not important how many content you post in a week, (five new posts per week or seven posts per week etc..). The most important thing is how you post your content unique, useful, profitable, favorable. There are millions post about make money online, but unique and helpful posts about make money maybe 50 or 60 post on internet. i know some blog 5 posts in a month, but so helpful and unique, has lots of visitors.

I think the secret word is unique content, not copy or same or similar post

    @Isaac

I agree with earning step. The key is to be consistent. You may post once a week… a month… As long as your fan base knows they’ll be waiting! If you’re a daily poster and you stop for a couple of weeks your readers may think that you’ve given up.

I try to put out a quality post at least twice a week. Although lately I haven’t made that mark this week. I have been a little busy with life in general lately.
I have to admit that when I am creating a quality post it can take me a while. I think maybe I try to perfect it too much at times. Then they tend to get long. Recently I have tried to take a different approach by creating smaller quality posts. Not sure which is better.

I really enjoy this blogging thing. I have met a lot of great people like you Isaac.

    Thanks

You’re welcome Jim. I am happy to be your friend as well.

Obstacles are a part of our life, and every bloggers must deal with it. It’s like running on a field of stones, sometimes we need to reduce our speed to manage through the sharp stones (to make progress).

One-post-per-day appears to be a good frequency! But it is not possible for everyone to post every other day. I post about twice a week, but I try to make the article the best I can. I don’t want to spoil the quality by increasing the quantity of my posts.

I´d like to post daily but I can´t, I´m realistic. I prefer to post once per week but with good quality content. Besides, English is not my mother tongue, that is why it would be practically impossible to post daily. I guess I will improve my English writing and then it will be easier to me to post more frequently. ;) I hope so!

Thanks uday and David for sharing. I am sure the visitors come from search engines in that case. Btw I think your English is good David, I am not a native English user too. ;-)
