How Did You Become a Blogger?
Posted on 12. Sep, 2009 by Isaac Yassar in Blogging
We bloggers have different reasons and story why we are here and run a blog (or blogs), right? We can say that it’s a piece of history and partially destiny
First, let me share you my story of how I became a blogger. Early 2008, I had a cable internet connection plugged to my PC. At that time I used to hang out only on Friendster.com because my friends were there. At that time, I had no idea of what blogging was.
Then I met Blogger.com (blogspot) and thought that it would be exciting to create a blog as an online mark of my existence. I actually planned to leave it alone and not updating it regularly so I could visit it many years later as nostalgia. I was going to say something like “Oh, look at this blog. I created it when I was still young.”
But after I wrote a post and then published it, I felt good. Afterward, it was great to know that there were other people visiting it besides me (using traffic analysis). After that, receiving a first comment from a visitor was exciting, knowing that someone cared enough to do it. Later on, I earned my first few Dollars from writing reviews and became more interested. Next, I learned more and more about blogging, and boom! Here I am now.
That’s my story. How about you, how did you become a blogger? This post supposes to be a question post, so your story is most expected

I become a blogger because I had watch someone on TV who makes money from blogging. So I got myself an internet connection and started researching on how could I make money online.
It is already 2 years since that I have forgotten who was that guy!

For me,.. it’s all because of iPhone (crazy about it) googling online learning on how to unlock/jailbreak it. Then some of my friend contact me through email asking help to do so and bla bla bla. Wasting a lot of time to reply each mail. Finally found out that the easiest way to share about anything is via blog…
That’s how I’ve become a blogger

For me it all started with a friend on Yahoo messenger introducing me to Google Adsense. I thought of making money and got into blogging, but now, I am more into blogging than into making money!

Great question I am not even sure. I actually started with blogging for dummbies. Then started reading and then tried google blogger and then converted a one of my it support sites that wasn’t doing anything in to wordpress. I didn’t do much with that except try to make some affilate sales.
Then I got serious about things and started The Money Cult as a real blog. It’s been a blast and why I started to make money as long as I am learning and adding value to the internet and helping others it really doesn’t matter. I know I will have my day in good time. Just need to learn a few more things.

Great stories Gloson, TFS, and Jared. Yeah, blogging gives unique satisfaction for those destined to be bloggers. More readership and money just improve our satisfaction. Value is still the key however.

Hi crazy blogger, hmm I see that you’re a seasoned blogger. People will recognize your experience even faster if you have a Gravatar, a custom header image, and a bit longer about page IMHO

Hello. I suggest not to focus too much on making money. Just write posts to help people, promote your blog (Twitter is a good way if you use it correctly), and the money will come later

I started blogging years ago because I like providing helpful information to others and share my thoughts from time to time. That’s why most of my blog is actually wordpress, mac, and humor stuff. My 3 favorite computer related things.

I used to start online 2 years ago, and I didn’t know anything about creating website and blog. It was my eldest bro who taught me about creating a website using Dreamweaver. After a few months of creating the site, that was bad because I totally didn’t know about SEO or marketing, and I didn’t know whether the site generated traffic or not because I didn’t know how to keep track, my intention was to make money with Google Adsense. After that, I quit it. At the same time, I learned about blogging from net buddy and I created my first blog which is myblog2day. It was a personal blog that wrote about personal rant, foods and travelling, it turned to MMO niche a year ago and…until today!
Anyway, I proud to be one of the WP Blogger and I love what I’m doing right now.

Lee

Interesting story Lee. I also learned using DreamWeaver in the past, but WordPress is totally much easier to use. Love it too.

Yeah… I used to use other web creating programs like Xsitepro (probably the best one) for my site, Poetry Talents, two years ago.
Then when I started my blog, Gloson Blog, I noticed that wordpress was much easier to use.
And when I know more about php code, I decided to switch Poetry Talents to wordpress, which took me about a day. Now, it is more “automatic” and easier than before.
GO WP!

I became a blogger somewhat on accident, I just wanted to switch my basic html website over to something easier and faster to manage because I am always pressed for time. A blog was the way to go.
First time here btw and im not a subscriber.

My story is similar to John’s above, as I started blogging pretty much by accident. Over the years I have created hundreds of websites, and each one took quite a bit of work. Later when I started making pretty good money I would hire people to create sites for me. One site in particular was a community website for the town I live in. I had my programmer at the time create me this killer website with a ton of very complex functions and it was awesome. Eventually the programmer quit working for me and when I need modifications I had to hire other programmers. Eventually with so many different programmers doing quick little fixes and patches… it messed up the sites admin system and it was just too hard to fix. So I looked for a more simple already put together system and it ended up being the Wordpress blogging platform. Once I created my first site with Wordpress I was hooked… and now I make almost every site with Wordpress. I occasionally use Joomla as well… but it is much more complicated to manage.
Sorry for the long story
