Doug’s Great Advice on Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is known as a good and popular way for bloggers to make money from their blogs.

Speaking of affiliate marketing, Doug Dillard left a great advice on my post linked above, based on his experience on making money online. Doug runs a site of www.MakingMoneyOnline.com (along with Mark Smith), an impressively growing site that has got more than 1000 comments on its two month age.

Here is what he said:

“As far making money with blogs, we have found our most success (as far as generating income) is from affiliate links in our actual posts. As long as the links have something to do with what you are writing about they can bring in a nice chunk of change.” ~ Doug Dillard

That is an interesting method there. See, people usually put affiliate links on sidebars (with buttons), headers (using banners), or footers. However, visitors mostly do not read sidebars or footers carefully. Instead, they pay attention to posts more because posts (suppose to) deliver value.

A relevant affiliate link on a post serves as an option for readers to check. Sidebar, header, and footer aren’t usually too relevant with what you are saying on posts. That is why the method has better chance to bring satisfying results.

Thanks to Doug for leaving such insightful technique of affiliate marketing. I am personally applying it and so far so good. How about you?

    Yes agree 100 per cent with you. To my way of thinking affiliate links are better than google ads to earn some money because you are mixing up the links with your post, you have total control of your links and the products you are promoting.

      Yes, David. The total control is also a good thing to have regarding affiliate marketing. We don’t want to promote bad products to our visitors surely.

    Yah, put the affiliate link in post and our affiliate earn will boost. It is because the reader come to read our post, not our banner. :D
