Mangatar: Free Manga Avatar
Posted on 12. Aug, 2009 by Isaac Yassar in Uncategorized
What do you think of my new avatar?
This is a mangatar, manga-avatar. The word “manga” refers to Japanese cartoons / comics.
In my opinion, cartoon avatars are not bad for bloggers. As blogging is not an exact science, we are free to express yourself there. Cartoon avatar is just another artistic way to express our personality. With more personality, we can make a better blog.
One of professional bloggers who uses cartoon avatar is Dennis Yu. I know him on Facebook, he uses a nice cartoon avatar there (by the time I write this). His cartoon image still wears tuxedo, so the professional ‘feel’ stays intact.
By the way, I created my cartoon avatar using a free service from FaceYourManga.com . You can also create your own cartoon avatar using their easy-to-use tool as well. Here is how:
1. Visit this page
2. Click “Create” to start the process
It is on the pink button below the big flash square in the center of the page.
3. Choose to create a male or female avatar
4. Customize how it looks using the tool provided
Face is a good part to start editing. You can customize each part of your face, such as eyes, eyebrows, nose, lips, chin, ears, and hair. You can also edit your clothing. You can wear shirts, jackets, t-shirts, gadgets, and many more. You can use lipstick and other make ups if you like. Tattoo, piercing, scars, muscles, glasses, backgrounds, etc are also nice add-ons.
5. Enter your email
After you are done editing, you will need to fill your email address and your manga avatar will be delivered there. You can download and save your avatar in your hardisk afterward.
Tips: if you want to create an avatar that is close to the real you, a photo of yours can help. Admit it, most of us don’t really know how our eyes or eyebrows look like, do you?
Very simple, right? Feel free to try

Thanks Jim. Yes, that’s the ‘feel’ I want to build. It really looks like me, because I use a photo of mine as a guide in customizing the avatar. The hair, eyes, eyebrows, nose, lips, chin, and skin color is just like the real me

I like it. Nice tie will have to give it a try. I kind am becoming a fan of the cartoon avatar gives you a little more privacy also since as a blogger you face and name begins to showup everywhere.

Yes Jared, privacy is also an important point. We don’t want PhotoShop freaks put our faces into funny stuff now, do we?

Looks good buddy. I think mangatar can be very close to real face if we make it carefully.
