Bloggers’ Arms: Basic Blogging Equipments

Posted on 31. Aug, 2009 by Isaac Yassar in Blogging

blogger armsHello there!

If you want to blog comfortably, you will need a few equipments to support your activity, true?

Having one or two of them will help you enjoy blogging better. However, if you are serious about blogging and the popular idea of generating money from it, you must get all of them, no bargain. Why? Because the vast blogosphere is a war zone of competitions, without your shiny armor, shield, and sword you will certainly go nowhere.

Here are some basic blogger equipments you will obviously need in your journey (excluding your blog ;-) ):

1. Personal Computer / Laptop

What would you do without it? This basic equipment enables you to write posts offline, which is critical. You can take your time to write good contents, and carefully edit it. You can also save your contents in texts documents before posting them later on. It will also serve as a back up for your blog, including posts, templates / themes, codes, images, etc.

This PC / Laptop do not need to be powerful. As long as you can use it to type text documents comfortably, then it is good enough. The ability to run browsers is also important, in case you are to connect it to the internet. If you have stronger PC / laptop, then it will bring an even better blogging experience.

The software that you need on your PC / laptop are mainly typing software and web browsers. Having qualified hardware of keyboards and monitor / LCD is also helpful in your working on it. Having a UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) also guarantees that you won’t lose your work if the electricity suddenly goes off (if you use PC). And make sure you update you anti virus, because a viral attack can easily screw up your day, trust me.

2. Internet Connection

Internet connection makes your blogging activity much easier, because you do not need to go to net-cafes or hot-spots to upload your articles. You can also edit your blog much efficient if you have one, like changing appearance, sidebar gadgets, coding stuff, etc. You will also have more time to browse and learn from the internet, e.g.: reading from other blogs, keeping yourself up to date using Social Media, etc. All from the comfort of home sweet home, sweet.

If you are new and unsure about your blogging future, you can try to use cheap internet connection first. After you feel more confidence on your blog, you can level up using better connections (broadband ones). Using a connection with unlimited bandwidth (either slow or fast) will also give you more stability in your blogging.

3. Comfortable workplace

Comfortable workplace renders you feeling peaceful and invites fresh ideas to your gray matter, injecting more creativity upon you. If you need to build advanced quality of contents, then you need it even more. It also helps you cope with the writing process itself, making you able to write and edit stuff for longer duration.

Of course this comfort varies between one people and another. Some people need exclusive working rooms, while others prefer silence the most, and the other cannot think if it’s too quiet around. I know someone who prefers writing stuff on a mall using her laptop, seriously. It is a matter of preference.

OK soldier, those above are some equipments that help you in dealing with your activity of blogging. Of course, there are also other personal equips that can enhance the experience, which depend on each of personality and condition, such as eyeglasses. The point is, to blog effectively, you need to get the right items.

Do you have other equipments to help you in your blogging activity? Feel free to share your thoughts on the comment section, fellas :-)

    Hey Isaac!
You are right you need a comfortable place to work. I usually put on a little music in the background. It keeps the rythme going.

I find I keep my eyes open too without blinking at times and it totally dries out my contacts. So I end up putting on my glasses :)
