10 Types of People You Shouldn’t Follow on Twitter
Posted on 14. Aug, 2009 by Isaac Yassar in Uncategorized
You want good and positive experience on Twitter, wrong?
Having good network on Twitter gives you satisfying social experience and benefit. Your network on Twitter consists of you, your followers, and those you follow. The people you follow directly influence what kind of tweets you hear.
To build good network, you need to follow the right persons on Twitter. You don’t want to follow the wrong ones, them:
1. The scammers
They usually put their shortened web-links on their bio. If you recognize the pattern of their websites as illegal scam, don’t follow them.
2. The tworns (tweet-porn)
Porn sites made these Twitter accounts and use hot chicks’ names and photos. They always tweet about the porn sites creating them, followed by links. They are also known of tweeting hot ‘teasers’.
3. The tw-ads-ters
These people link their accounts to an advertising program, and all their tweets are ads from the program. You can recognize these people from their profile page. They do not tweet but “Check out this site …”, “Just run into a nice site …”, etc.
4. The schemers
Scheme businesses are known of offering small or even no value. They are the believer of get-rich-quick scheme. There is no way to get-rich quicker than robbing a bank. If you don’t want to join their schemes, don’t follow them.
5. The salespersons
All they are tweeting is about their product / service trying to sell. You can recognize them from the tweets on their profile page. They don’t tweet other things.
6. The link-spammers
All their tweets contain links to the same website, theirs. It’s a desperate measure to improve link popularity and traffic. It’s not working but they don’t realize it yet.
7. The followers
They don’t tweet, just follow people. They usually follow many, but followed by few. People don’t want to follow them for good reasons. Joining the crowd is always a good way to play safe.
8. The names
They have no bio, they mention no location, and they have no avatar. They are simply just names. Perhaps they have a good reason not to expose such info. Terrorists?
9. The leavers
They have left Twitter long time ago, no recent activity recorded. They’re dead accounts. Having them in your network is not much of a use.
10. The new breeds
They are the combination of two or more types above. You don’t want them around you. Unless if you’re one of them.
Any types to add?

Surely a quicker way to say all this is ‘look at a person’s feed, and if you find it interesting, follow them’. None of the above categories would fall into that, so I wouldn’t be following any of the types of people you mention.

I like the creative spin you put on the types of people you SHOULDN’T follow on Twitter. I think these same characteristics spill over into the types of people whose mailing list you should also avoid opting into!
