How to Install WordPress in 1 Minute

Do you want to start using WordPress but you don’t know exactly how you are going to do it?
Here is the easy way to start WordPress-ing, no techie skills required.
When I was about to start using WordPress for this site, I felt afraid because I had never used it before. I thought it would be difficult to install and manage. May be you are feeling it too. But I was wrong, it was very easy and simple. Well, actually it depends on your hosting service.
What you need
If you want to blog via WordPress on your own domain, the first thing you need to do is contacting your hosting service and ask them if they have any one-click WordPress installation software, like Fantastico Deluxe. Alternatively, you can visit your hosting Control Panel / dashboard, and see if there is such software around.
Fantastico Deluxe is a one-click installation tool that functions to install WordPress, Joomla, and other web platforms in a few clicks (I wonder why they call it “one-click”
). It handsomely does the job 100% (automatically), meaning that you do not need to set up anything else. The software also configures databases automatically. Usually, the software is visible in your hosting C-Panel.
If your hosting service do not offer such software, that’s going to be a problem. Manual installation is much more complicated, though not impossible. I can tell that the performance of the software obviously saves your time and energy (and probably frustration) a lot, so may be it is worthy to find another hosting service that offers the feature.
WordPress officially announce which hosting services have the one-click installation here.
My installation
To describe the process better, here is what I did to install my WordPress (after my domain was activated and ready for installation):
I logged in to my hosting Control Panel and accessed the software Fantastico Deluxe from the dashboard. Afterward, I chose the menu to install WordPress and defined the username and password for my WordPress login. Then I confirmed my installation, and the page was loading for a while. Finally, a notification informing that my installation was completed showed up.
After installation
After that, I visited my domain and logged in using my username and password to start blogging. Then the page loaded and took me into my WordPress dashboard, on which my blogging activity runs. From there, I can easily write posts, change settings, upload a new template, putting sidebar widgets etc. The dashboard works quite similar to Blogger’s (in case you re familiar with).
WordPress is an autonomous platform, meaning that after you successfully install it, you do everything on your site. You login, write posts, change settings, edit appearance, and finally publish it on the same site. That is quite interesting of a system.
Address of your login screen: http://www.YourDomain.com/wp-admin/
How to put ads?
This is a popular question because monetizing is the interesting part of blogging. To put ads, you only need to go to your sidebar widgets settings (Dashboard >> Appearance >> Widgets). Add a text widget there, and put the HTML / JavaScript codes of the ads inside it. Save, and done. It is that simple.
Advanced positioning of ads, such as in banner, posts, etc, is usually set by the custom theme options. Each theme probably has different options for it. Some have it and some don’t. Therefore, good template is a must.
WordPress official themes directory is always a good place to start looking for decent free themes.
That’s pretty clear I believe. If you have any question, feel free to use the comment section

i think installing wordpress manually is quite easy, wordpress itself has declare its “famous 5-minute installation”. But that’s right, if you don’t know what is MySQL or phpmyadmin, then better find hosting that support fantastico

@djupi
Right indeed. I have once tested installing WordPress 2.7 to a free domain, and it took about 5 minutes (uploading files, creating a database, and setting the wp-config). When I tried using Fantastico, it took only about 1 minute. I’ll never install manually again

Yup, I love fantastico. Setting up Wordpress, Joomla, or even a whole forum can be done in just a couple of clicks!
