Make Money Blogging: Content-is-King Approach
Posted on 21. Jul, 2009 by Isaac Yassar in Uncategorized
Looking for a good strategy to earn money from your blog?
Content-is-king approach is your answer, the most effective blogging strategy out there. Many successful bloggers use it as their primary guide to blogging success, such as Steve Pavlina (stevepavlina.com), Darren Rowse (problogger.net), Brian Clark (copyblogger.com), etc. The well-proven strategy consists of 3 steps to obtain shiny blogging success, which consist of:
1. Building quality content
No matter what your topic is, unlike your mama we can only say that your blog has quality content if it is useful for your visitors. This step requires you to write for humans, not for search engines. Therefore, what you need to do is focusing on building content that delivers genuine value to people. It is not easy, but not impossible too.
How about SEO? Don’t worry about it lad. Search engines always aim to rank quality contents high, not the skillful web tricksters. If you have valuable contents, they will find you, trust me.

2. Attracting targeted visitors
After building useful and valuable content, it will be easier for you to attract your targeted visitors. But the term ‘easy’ here does not mean they will automatically come finding your content. You have to do something about it first. You need to market it manually to your potential visitors, and you can use many tools for it:
- Social media / networks
- Blog carnivals
- Forums
- Comments
- etc
Blogging out loud does not mean you write many words in caps, but you share your opinion not only on your blog, but also in other mediums (that links to your voice on your blog). Before your content is acknowledged as great content by public, you need to bring it to your visitors actively.

3. Monetizing your site
After your blog is popular and visited by numerous online surfers everyday, you will have strong bargaining position that enables you to earn decent amount of money. You then monetize your traffic by writing reviews, affiliate marketing, and of course, advertising.

Notes: Content-is-king approach does not work fast, instead it works slowly but steadily, as proven by successful bloggers. None of them grab success fast and without effort. It also works systematically, meaning that each step requires the step before. You cannot attract many visitors without building quality content, let alone monetizing it. But you are free to prove it otherwise if you like
Steve, Darren, and Brian can’t all be wrong choosing this approach now, can they?

Issac, I completely agree with you on this one. I am also a part-time blogger and it took me about 2 months to stop trying to take shortcuts and get in the habit of regular posting and with decent content what a difference in traffic and comments. Good luck with your blog.

Great article and I totally agree! Without good content, you’ve just wasted time. It’s totally worth the time and effort, you get out of it what you put into it.

Loved this article! Monetizing your blog is certainly important, but it’s also important to have great content that will keep the followers/readers coming back for more. You can’t always take the easy way out and think you will succeed. It does take time, effort, and dedication in order to make money blogging successful!
